Butthole Surfers – The Revenge of Anus Presley

December 13, 2011

0 Butthole Surfers The Revenge of Anus PresleyButthole Surfers is the debut studio EP by American punk band Butthole Surfers, released in July 1983. It is also known as Brown Reason to Live and Pee Pee the Sailor (see “Title controversy”). All songs were written and produced by the Butthole Surfers.

The album was originally released on Alternative Tentacles. Butthole Surfers and 1984′s Live PCPPEP were reissued as the Butthole Surfers/Live PCPPEP CD on Latino Buggerveil in 2003. The 12-inch vinyl version is still available from Alternative Tentacles, and is listed as Brown Reason to Live.

The center label on Butthole Surfers’ vinyl printings invites listeners to erroneously play the record at “69 RPM,” a joke referencing the famous sex position. The album’s back cover features a mildly distorted image of famed Mexican luchador Santo.

FP 10 Future Primitive surfboard: installing the wooden fin

October 26, 2011

0 FP 10 Future Primitive surfboard: installing the wooden finhttp://www.olosurfer.com

Roy setting a spitfire fin into the future primitive 13 ft wooden longboard, inspired by the 1920′s Tom Blake designs. Woodwork for surfers! Music by solar fields ‘union light’

It’s important too have the fin tab which is inserted into the board of constant section so that it doesn’t get narrower or wider as it slides into the slot. If using a standard fin template this will require adding a tab or cutting and refoiling part of the fin so that it makes a suitable tab.

For making the slot I just mark around the fin and then grind and dig out the hole. A dremel tool would be perfect for this but in the past I have used box cutters, sharpened screwdrivers, chisels and even nails made into chisel points. These days I use an electric drill with a few burr attachments and regular drill bits. If the inside of the slot is rough that’s fine as long as it is tidy at the surface.

The fin is just glued in with thickened epoxy, keep an eye on it during curing as the heat of curing can make the fin get lifted up if the resin bubbles and expands.
